Coworker Sean and I were walking to a meeting together at work on Friday. He asked me what I was doing for the weekend. I told him.
He said, "So this is your last weekend."
I said yep. We had to get most of the planning for the trip done this past weekend because of other commitments we have before we leave.
He said, "That's not what I mean. I mean this is your last real weekend. You will never again have a weekend of doing what you want. Not without a babysitter. You are bound to this prison for the NEXT 18 YEARS! Do you understand? THIS is the life you have chosen woman!"
Hadn't quite thought of it like that. We know our lives are about to radically change in ways we can only understand in a fuzzy way at the moment. That's what everyone tells us. We are both independent souls. We like to do our own thing, in our own time. Those days are numbered. I can count how many days without obligations we have left on one hand! ONE HAND!
No more sleeping in on Saturdays, tooling around, blogging about, working like crazy, hanging out, eating whenever, marathon projects, spontaneous dates, or spontaneous anything.
Call us crazy. We are ready. Let this 14.1 pound human being wreck our freedom. And help us remember what's really important. Weekends of two have been fun, but it's time for two to be three!
I am so excited for your life to be wrecked :) I can't wait to read all about it!!!
ReplyDeleteAmen to that! Hey, can't sleep in, but you get to hold a baby soon!!! What can beat that? NOTHING!!!! YEAH!!!!!! sooo exciting!!
ReplyDeleteAhh, freedom and sleeping in. I do miss it. But as you've probably figured out, it is beyond worth it to give up this up for a precious child!! :)
ReplyDeleteWooHooo! I'm with ya...bring it on!! We're ready too ;) SOOOOO excited that you'll be leaving SOOOO soon!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I were married 10 years before our first child and now we have two. I actually just told him last week, can you even remember life before the kids...I wouldn't want to ever go back. They are the best!
ReplyDeleteWe were in your same place last year...2 of us and FREEDOM. Trust me that in a short time you will not even remembered what you used to do to occupy all your time. Though I will admit, sleeping in on Saturdays was fun :) We are heading on on the 26th to pick up our new little princess...we must really love this new life!!! Be blessed!
ReplyDeleteActually, your weekends are going to just get a lot more fun:) Praying for you guys and so excited!! Get that baby out this way! We've got hook up!!!
ReplyDeletelove this post... and I remember "grieving" just the two of us... then I grieved just the three of us, then just the four of us. Now there are 5 of us and I can say that while there's always a bit of sentiment saying goobye to the way things have been... IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN BETTER each time! can't wait to see your little bear! Merry Christmas!
